F. O. M. O.

Fear Of Missing Out.
The modern day term that conceals an ancient tactic of destruction.

Gen 3: 1, 4 & 5
...And he said to the woman, "Has God indeed said, 'You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?'"..."You will not 'surely die.' For God knows that in the day that you eat of it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

F.O.M.O. The fall of humankind still raging full scale; temptation by it's more contemporary and innocuous acronym.

When you think about it though, it was an empty promise. They already knew "Good." Good was God. They knew Him intimately. He was a part of their moment to moment life experience. And they also knew "Evil", though perhaps not by that name, and not at all intimately. Evil was that which God asked them not to engage in.

Life in every living thing around them. Death in a single one. "I set before you Life and Death. Choose Life." The very first menu every written with a recommendation from the house. "Choose Life. It is delicious to soul, body and spirit. The other option will kill you."

But Satan like some bitter Yelp reviewer whispers, "why are they always pushing that dish? The Death Du Jour is the best of both." The liar knew full well that they knew Evil. They knew enough to say to his face that God says it is death. They who did not yet know the experience of death, knew enough to be convinced that they wanted no part in it.

But what if it were not so? What if God was really holding out on them? What if it were life and wisdom and power to boot! What if it were the path to becoming more like the one they loved. Equal with Him in fact! What if they could make their own worlds, with their own rules?!

Ah...wouldn't that be something indeed! An opportunity not to be missed.
