10/11/12 Victory Declared

Let not my lack of understanding stay my hand from obedience to Your word, Oh God. So often I look at myself, my weakness, my shortcomings; and see only as far as my own limited ability. But that which You call me to is Herculean. Surely You know I must fail. And yet You call me forth as if You already knew the victory. As if the story had ended in triumph.

Thy silver path is upon the waters. You call me to tread upon raging seas.

Tell me, Lord, why You are smiling as You command me into battle. Your teeth gleem as the sun, Your eyes are bright with anticipation, eager love in Your every breathless sigh. What do You know that I do not?

That when I lay my fleshly armor by and step onto the battlefield with but a sling and a stone, I am instantly clothed in the power of Your might. To the world I am naked but Your love is adamantine protection. How shall I know Thee when this shall be, for even to myself I will appear stripped and poorly armed?

I shall know Thee by the joy that strengthens me to stand. I shall know Thee by the peace that abides. I shall know Thee by the boundless love that carries me. I shall know Thee by the victory and by the walls that crumble when I shout praises to Your Holy Name!

Hear, oh earth! Behold all you citizens of Heaven! I declare by the twinkle in my sweet Lord's eyes that I have obtained victory. Look not on this moment before my fight has begun, before the journey has even started. Look at His smile and hear His command. For that alone is the proof of triumph!
